 1. Scope 
This standard specifies the technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, product marking, packing, transportation and storage of shock absorbers for motorcycles and mopeds.
This standard is applicable to shock absorbers for motorcycles and mopeds which are composed of damping spring, damper and connection fittings. The relevant provisions contained in the standard also apply to the non-hydraulic damper and racing bicycle shock absorber.
