1 SCOPE
This standard specifies the technical requirements and test procedures for the on-board diagnostic (OBD) systems of the vehicles equipped with compression ignition engine (C.I.E) and their C.I.Es, and the vehicles equipped with positive ignition engine (P.I.E) and their P.I.Es fuelled with natural gas (NG) or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
This standard applies to the type approval and checking conformity of production of the emission control system intended for the compression ignition (including gas fuelled positive ignition) engines installed on the categories M2, M3, N1, N2 and N3 vehicles with design speed exceeding 25 km/h as well as category M1 vehicles with total mass exceeding 3,500kg.
If the categories N1 and M2 vehicles equipped with compression ignition (including gas fuelled positive ignition) engines have been subjected to the type approval on the OBD system in accordance with GB 18352.3-2005 "Limits and Measurement Methods for Emissions from Light-duty Vehicles (CHINA III, IV)", their engines may not be type approved according to this standard.
