1 SCOPE


This part of GB/T 18487 specifies classification, general requirements, communications, protection against electric shock, connection between EV and EV supply equipment (EVSE), special requirements for vehicle coupler, plug and socket-outlet, EV supply equipment constructional requirements, performance requirements, overload protection and short circuit protection, emergency disconnect, service conditions, repair, marking and instructions for electric vehicle conductive charging system.

This part applies to the EV supply equipment which provides off-board conductive charging for EV, e.g. AC charging spot, off-board charger and connection set for charging electric vehicle, etc., with a rated supply voltage up to 1,000 V AC or up to 1,500 V DC, and a rated output voltage up to 1,000 V AC or up to 1,500 V DC.
This standard also applies to EV supply equipment supplied from on-site storage systems (e.g. buffer batteries).
Additional requirements may apply to EVSE designed for specific environments or conditions, i.e.:
a) EV supply equipment located in hazardous areas where flammable gas or vapor, fuels or other combustible or explosive materials are present;
b) EV supply equipment designed to be installed at an altitude of more than 2,000 m.
This part is not applicable to safety aspects related to maintenance of electric vehicle conductive charging system, or the on-board charging equipment specified in ISO 17409, or the power supply equipment of trolley buses, rail vehicles, and industrial vehicles and vehicles designed primarily for use off-road.
