1 SCOPE

This standard specifies the technical requirements, test methods and inspection rules for rear marking plates intended for improving the visibility of heavy and long vehicles as well as slow-moving vehicles (SMV) and their trailers from behind. 
This standard applies to: 
a) Heavy and long vehicles, including: 
1) Articulated Classes II and III Category M vehicles; 
2) Category N3 vehicles other than semi-trailer tractors; 
3) Categories O1, O2 and O3 vehicles longer than 8.0m;
4) Category O4 vehicles; 
b) SMV: Category M, N and O vehicles with maximum design speed not greater than 40 km/h due to the construction.
