1 Scope

This standard specifies motor vehicles' door locks and retention components, including terms and definitions, specifications and test procedures for latches, hinges and other supporting means.

This standard applies to door locks and door retention components on side doors (including sliding doors) or back doors, intended for passenger access, of Category M1 and N1 vehicles.

2 Terms and Definitions

For the purpose of this standard, the following terms and definitions apply.

Doors
Hinged doors and sliding doors which are installed at side or back of motor vehicles and can be opened/closed for passenger access. Folding doors, roll-up doors and improvised doors with convenient installation are not included.

2.2 
Door system
It includes the door, latch, striker (or stop), door hinge, combinations of sliding track and sliding door components, and other door retention components installed on a door or on its surrounding doorframe. Double door system includes two doors.
