 1. APPLICATION SCOPE

 This Rules applies to the metal fuel tank and plastic fuel tank for the motor vehicles, fueled with gasoline and diesel, of categories M and N, while the fuel tank products for other vehicles may use this Rules as a reference.
Considering the adjustment of application scope arising from the changes in such factors as laws & regulations, applicable product standards, technologies or industry policies, the announcements issued by the CQC shall prevail. 

 2. CERTIFICATION MODE

 The certification mode for fuel tank of motor vehicles is: Type Test + Conformity of Production (COP) Check + Post-Certification Supervision
The certification includes the following basic steps:
a. Application for the certification
b. Type test
c. COP check
d. Evaluation and approval of certification result;
e. Post-certification supervision
As the product organization mode and product characteristics vary, different COP checks and post-certification supervisions may apply in specific implementations.

 3. APPLICATION FOR CERTIFICATION 

 3.1 Certification Unit Division
In principle, the automobile fuel tank products, produced by the same producer (manufacturer) and manufacturing enterprise (site), which do not significantly differ in the following essential respects, could be classified as one certification unit: 
(1) Material of the fuel tank body (metal, plastic);
(2) Basic structure, shape and installation mode of the fuel tank;
(3) Processing technology of the fuel tank;
(4) Rated capacity of the fuel tank: Classified as rated capacity  95L or rated capacity  95L. 
The certification applicant shall submit certification entrustment pursuant to the principle for certification unit division. The same unit may include the products of several models. The same model means the products that are designed not to affect the standard compliance.
The same products produced by the same producer but different manufacturing enterprises (having the same production process and the same suppliers of key components/raw materials), or the same products produced by different producers but the same manufacturing enterprise, shall be classified as different application units, but it’s acceptable to carry out type test for the samples in the same unit only, while the products produced by other manufacturing enterprise/producer shall provide information for the verification of conformity.
